Sem abdicar deste contexto-acontecimento estético, Renata resolveu trazer de alguma forma o estado de coisas comunitário para o dentro-fora de sua obra. Decidiu intervir na vizinhança, no mais delicado e íntimo lugar símbolo das relações sociais, no sossego do Renata, através de dois cortes precisos e cirúrgicos revela o íntimo, o escondido, o particular. Traz este espaço inusitado para o espaço público, a galeria, o lugar expositivo e, ao mesmo tempo, devassando a intimidade da galeria e seu cotidiano. Este corte que retira o limite que vela e separa a intimidade daqui e de lá, diferente de uma questão voyeurística, provoca um trânsito espacial, arquitetônico, institucional e político, e nos revela que os limites institucionalizados às vezes parecem muros intransponíveis. Renata Lucas – Gentileza On this Saturday we’ll be opening the show "Gentileza" (Gentleness) by artist Renata Lucas. Renata has been taking part in shows at different institutions such as the University Center Maria Antônia (São Paulo), Pampulha Museum of Art (Belo Horizonte) and Centro Cultural Oduvaldo Vianna Filho (Rio de Janeiro), and also received awards from critics as the Salão Paranaense- MAC- Curitiba (acquisition) and SESI Award-CNI Marcantonio Vilaça. Renata, who internally redefines limits in the space of Art around itself, startles the artistic panorama with radical interventions in the architecture of institutions or in architectural places, in urban crossroads, sidewalks, reflecting on the objective space, on the social relations, on the institutionality of things. At the confront of this relation subject-artist-space, Renata was surprised with the roundabouts of A Gentil Carioca. To those who do not know, and using the artist’s own words, A Gentil Carioca is encrusted on a circuit of stores of immigrants, mostly arabs, in downtown Rio de Janeiro, the “Saara” region, as it’s commonly known. At this pile of stores and street sellers, one can find all kind of commerce goods, from stationery products, fabric store, small wares, wigs, carnival costumes, shoes, suitcases etc. There are also seamstress studios, photo bureaus and agencies and all sorts of businesses. It’s a real open market where products being sold get mixed and confuse the limits between one store and another, on a multi-color and crowded landscape, in short, a popular place for business and human relations. Without letting go this aesthetic context-happening, Renata decided to bring in some sort of way the communitary state of things to the inside out of her work. Decided to intervene in the neighborhood, at the most delicate and intimate local, symbol of social relations, at the neighbor’s peacefulness. The work, denominated Gentileza (Gentleness), started by testing the limits of negotiation (gentleness, colaboration, abuse etc). Renata, through two precise and surgical cuts, reveals the intimacy, the hidden, the private, brings this unusual space to the public space, the gallery, the exhibition place and, at the same time, opening up the privacy of the gallery and its quotidian. This cut that withdraws the limit that covers and separates the intimacy from here and there, different from a voyeuristic matter, causes a space transit, architectural, institutional and political and unfolds to us the institutionalized limits sometimes feel like insurmountable walls. But nothing that this abuse played in the game of gentleness and much poetry can’t do to unite what’s apart, to glue the impossible.
